🌱 Why We Created English Sprouts
English Sprouts wasn’t created because we wanted to open another English school.
It was born from years of classroom experience, countless conversations between passionate teachers, and one shared belief: children deserve an English school designed around how they learn best.
As teachers, we had experienced the joy of watching children discover a new language—but we had also seen what was missing. Too often, lessons focused on memorising vocabulary instead of using language naturally, or followed a one-size-fits-all approach that overlooked each child’s unique way of learning.
So we asked ourselves a simple question:
What would the English school we had always wished existed look like?
English Sprouts is our answer.
The school we dreamed of teaching in is now the school we’re proud to build for every family who joins us.
🌍 What We Believe
Imagine an afternoon at a playgroup in London.
Children are playing, painting, singing, experimenting and discovering new things. They’re not there to study English. They’re there to have fun. And yet, as they play, English naturally becomes part of everything they experience.
That’s the idea behind English Sprouts.
We want to recreate that same atmosphere in our workshops in Modena: a place where children enjoy exciting activities, make discoveries and experience English as a language to use, rather than a subject to study.
The joy of taking part comes first. English becomes part of the play, curiosity and discovery.
Every workshop is carefully designed around an engaging theme and a clear language goal. Through games, movement, stories, music, experiments and creative activities, children encounter English words and expressions in meaningful situations, connecting language to what they do and experience.
We believe that one of the most important steps in learning a language is developing a positive relationship with it. That’s why we create a welcoming environment where every child feels comfortable, understands what’s happening and is excited to join in. English is the main language of our activities, while Italian is used when needed to support understanding and participation.
Because children who are having fun, feeling confident and eager to explore are also more likely to want to speak English.
Our team includes native English-speaking teachers and qualified English teachers with years of experience working with children. Many of us are also mothers, so we understand the importance of respecting each child’s individual needs, personality and pace of learning.
We also believe in the value of multilingualism, which opens doors to new cultures, friendships and opportunities. Research suggests that learning more than one language may also support cognitive flexibility, communication skills and cultural awareness.
